American Spirit 1880-1910

by Jeanne Horton

Jeanne Horton delights us again with her unique perspective on fabric merchandising and design. "American Spirit" reminds us of a period in the US where tough economic times encouraged women to use scrappy strings of fabric weaves, velvets and even ribbons to create their quilts. This turn of the century fabric collection consists of various geometrics, shirtings and stripes common in this era. This time is also known as the dawn of crazy quilts and cheater panels. Jeanne offers that her inspiration for "American Spirit" came from an antique scrappy string quilt in her private collection. "My quilt has been reproduced with the hope that you will be inspired to create your own heirloom American Folk-art quilt. To complete this spirited collection of fabrics I have also added beautifully soft, coordinating aged cotton velvet. I think you're going to find this line inspiring and the possibilities endless. I hope you enjoy."
